Kinda Sorta Mini Twists

After having the straw curls for a week, I decided to just twist my hair again. Instead of doing the twists on stretched hair, I went back to twisting on damp hair. I also decided to not do them so small. I just didn't feel like doing a bajillion teenie tiny little twists. I used Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and castor oil.

Other than the expected shrinkage, my twists came out plump and juicy looking. I have no idea why I chose a middle part though...I'm not doing that again lol. I did these on Monday and I doubt I'll keep em longer than a week. I just gotta figure out what I wanna do next.

Straw Curls

I kept my mini twists in for two weeks. After I took those down I figured I could do a style that I've wanted to revisit for a while - Straw Curls!

The first time that I did straw curls the results were really good. I loved the definition of the springy coils and the style lasted a while. Lately I've been thinking about doing another set but I didn't want to get the same tight coils. I wanted looser, elongated curls. So I figured that I could just space my hair around the straws to get the look I wanted. So I washed and conditioned my hair then applied Cantu Shea Butter and olive oil and put my hair in about 10-12 twists. I used about 3-4 straws for each section. It only took me 2 1/2 hours and I used Shea Moisture Curl Milk, castor oil, and my pink Eco Styler gel. I didn't want crunchy curls so I went real light on the gel. I let it air dry overnight and this morning I took out the straws and separated each coil in 2-4 sections. I'm pretty pleased with the results even though there's only a slight difference in the outcome compared to last time.

This style will probably only last a week so of course I'm already thinking about what to do next. Hmmm...
